CLSU attends 2009 iSchools Planning in Angeles, Pampanga; declines in this year's implementation

CLSU ICT Coordinator Prof. Theody B. Sayco recently attended a five day Planning Workshop to finalize the activities needed to launch the 2009 iSchools Project. He joined the 36 other veteran SUCs in the project and 5 newbies.

The 2009 iSchools Planning Workshop was held in the majestic but affordable Lewis Grand Hotel in Angeles City from Feb 8 - 12, 2010 overlooking the Clark Economic Zone.

Highlights of the Planning workshop include the distribution of PHS recipients for this years computerization program. Unfortunately, CLSU will not be joining anymore.

Prof Sayco however, assured his collegues that he will still be active in the iSchools Project in his personal capacity, and considering that CLSU is still a member of the eQuallity Program of CICT thus he and the University will still be involved in other undertaking, such as being a member of the TWG for iSchools 2009 and the Terrestial Satellite Connectivity of 191 remote public high schools in the Philippines which are too remote to have normal internet connections.

The CLSU - CICT iSchools Team would be concentrating on completing the 2006 and 2007 implementation as CLSU is one of the SUCs with the most number of schools being handled (31 in 2006 and 14 in 2007 ) in addition CLSU is also responsible for the internet connection of additional 16 schools in Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Viscaya, Aurora and Bulacan.

Despite the fact that CLSU will not be joining this year's iSchools Project, CLSU is still pride in being part of the last three implementations where CICT iSchools Project has received an Asian IT Award in the Digital Inclusion category given by the Future Gov in Bali Indonesia.
